I was at Interop Las Vegas this week, and the Expo floor was alive with gimmicks. We had a talking robot, a boxing ring, a GT40, and two Mythbusters lookalikes. But what’s the point of a gimmick without a tie-in?
So I set out on a personal quest, asking the sponsors of the gimmickiest stunts to explain what point they were trying to make. Why did McAfee have two Ford GT’s? Why did Xirrus have boxers? And why wouldn’t that robot shut up?

Note: No booth babes are included in this video, though they were all over the show floor. I have a problem with companies using booth babes and chotchkies, but it might not be what you think!

Love the video work. Think I was almost there.

They should’ve had a can of V8 and a guy repeatedly slapping himself on the forehead. Would’ve saved a lot of money and floorspace.
