Boston Folks: Come to CloudCamp!

July 24, 2009 By Stephen Leave a Comment

logo_cloudcampCloudCamp Boston is just a week away, and I’m really looking forward to it. After my great experience at CloudCamp Columbus last month, I was pleased to discover I would be in Boston when CloudCamp rolled in there, too. If you’re in the Boston area and are interested in cloud computing, I urge you to attend this free unconference!I go to lots of conferences, expos, and seminars. Some are good, some are terrible, and most are a mix of the two. One of the reasons is the tension between vendors and end users: The former tend to pay for the events in order to get access to the latter! It’s like a magazine: Event organizers, like editors, have to strike a balance between advertising (to pay the bills) and content (to bring the crowds).

CloudCamp is different. It discards all of the baggage of traditional conferences and crowdsources the whole thing. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your background is, if you’re interested in cloud computing you’re welcome to attend! Anyone is welcome to lead a session and anyone is welcome to attend. But it’s democratic: Attendees who aren’t interested will vote with their feet and go to another session! It’s also totally open: Attendees can and will interrupt and guide the conversation in a more helpful direction.

It sounds like anarchy, but it works. That’s why I’m delighted to attend, and why I think you should come, too! If you can attend, please drop me a line and we will meet up. If not, watch Twitter for #CloudCamp updates!
