Back From the Pile: Interesting Links, December 24, 2010

Happy end-of-the-year week! I’ll be posting an 11-part series on thin provisioning starting today, but last week was eventful as well. I introduced my enterprise IT events calendar and wrote more about HP’s expiring ink and my HP printer’s demise. It was also time to write about The Four Stages of Vendor Blogging and advising my clients to Always Punch Above Their Weight.

HP Photosmart Ink System Failure – Error: 0xc19a0035

There you have it: The death of an HP PhotoSmart printer

Yesterday I discussed HP’s expiring photosmart ink cartridges and advised pressing “OK” to keep using them anyway. Today we talk about what happens when the ink system really does fail.

What Does HP Printer “Ink Cartridge Expired” Mean?

My HP Photosmart inkjet printer just started complaining about "Ink Cartridge(s) Expired"!

HP’s inkjet printer ink cartridges are really expensive, so I’m always annoyed when my printer runs out. Since I’m an avid iPad user and my printer just gave up the ghost, I decided to take a look at the offerings.

Located! Missing HP Printer Driver For Snow Leopard

Note: It looks like Apple now has the correct drivers available for direct download and upgrade. None of this should be required anymore. Got a Hewlett Packard printer? Got Snow Leopard? Apple and HP report that the OS X 10.6 install DVD includes all required drivers and software, but it didn’t work for me. I [...]

Warning: HP All-In-One Error With Mac OS X

My workhorse home office printer/scanner/copier/fax is an HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One. It’s really quite good – an excellent printer, especially for photos, with solid scanning and fax capability. But HP’s software leaves something to be desired. In both Vista, it would “forget” how to find the scanner after a few months, forcing me to reinstall. [...]
