Would you attend the annual tradeshow of the National Association of Broadcasters? Sounds pretty deadly, doesn’t it? A bunch of TV executives hanging around sharing insider trade gossip, right? Nothing could be further from the truth!
The annual NAB Show is one of my favorite events. It’s got everything:
- It’s huge, taking up all of the Las Vegas convention center. It dwarfs big IT events like VMworld. Seriously – it’s like 10 VMworlds at once!
- It’s interesting, with content from all sorts of companies. From movie cameras to IT gear to clocks and belt holsters (really!), NAB has it all!
- It’s fun, with a wide variety of attendees from all over the world. A great way to get out of your comfort zone!
I’ll be at NAB Show this year, on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17. That’s literally all I could spare out of my schedule, but I wouldn’t miss it!
I’m looking forward to meeting up with friends like Robin Harris, W. Curtis Preston, Nick Pearce, and anyone else who happens to be around. Last year I ran into John Hickson, the folks from companies like Avere, DDN, and Active Storage, and even two guys I went to college with. It’s an amazing show!
Nick is arranging a Monday-evening get-together, and Claire Chaplais (who helps organize Tech Field Day) has some passes for events on Tuesday. Drop me a line if you’ll be there too!
