What is VMware VASA? Not Much (Yet)

November 11, 2011 By Stephen 3 Comments

The list of VMware storage integration features in vSphere is growing at a rapid pace. From backup to enterprise array offload, VMware is staking their claim. But information about one new storage feature in vSphere 5 has been scarce: The true nature of the Storage API for Storage Awareness (VASA) is only just beginning to be revealed. A Complete List of VMware VAAI Primitives

November 10, 2011 By Stephen 4 Comments

VMware’s introduced the “vStorage APIs for Array Integration” (VAAI) in vSphere 4.1, and block-heads like me went nuts. Users of this FalconStor solution will be able to use the three ESX 4.1 VAAI … [Read more...] about FalconStor Brings VAAI Support To Every Storage Array

Iomega surprised exactly no one by announcing an updated 12-drive rack mount storage array today. Featuring "Cloud Edition" software introduced earlier this year, the px12-350r also sports mildly updated hardware specs, though still relies on Intel's "Core2 Duo" CPUs and Gigabit Ethernet. The new device slots in between the desktop px4/px6 line and parent EMC's new VNXe storage … [Read more...] about Iomega Introduces the StorCenter px12-350r

August 21, 2011 By Stephen Leave a Comment

The next date in my Storage for Virtual Environments seminar series is rapidly approaching, and I hope to see my Ohio readers there! I've made major changes to the seminar content recently, updating it with vSphere 5 news and rearranging the whole thing. I still feel like there's not enough time to get to everything, but it's a start! As always, I'll be presenting three … [Read more...] about Seminar: Storage for Virtual Environments, Cleveland OH
