At the end of August, I’m headed to San Francisco for VMworld US 2012! I say this with quite a bit of excitement because VMworld is always a highlight of my year but also because of the fun stuff I have planned this year: A special Tech Field Day Roundtable discussion, fun meetups like VMunderground, and of course lots of great technical content!
Bringing Tech Field Day to VMworld
One of the best things about being the organizer of the Tech Field Day event series is the great group of people I have come to know. Because VMware touches so many disciplines, it has become a mecca for IT infrastructure folks like us, and this year over 30 of the 100+ past Tech Field Day delegates will be there in San Francisco!
Because so many folks will be in town, I’ve scheduled some Tech Field Day Roundtable discussions. On Monday, a group of delegates will join Scale Computing to learn about their new converged infrastructure offering and record a roundtable video. We might do similar Roundtables with other companies as well – stay tuned!
I’ll also be roaming the Solutions Exchange floor recording quick interviews with interesting companies and TFD delegates. We’ll be doing this all three days the Exchange is open. Let me know if you’d like to come along with me!
We’ll post all of these ASAP, hopefully during the show!
More Great VMworld Highlights
Of course, I’m also looking forward to the show and surrounding spectacle.
Sunday is v0dgeball (benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project) and Bill Hill is organizing a Tech Field Day/vExpert v0dgeball team. Contact him to get involved!
Later on Sunday is another VMunderground party. These are always the best parties of the event, and I’m so glad Theron, Sean, and Brian could arrange another one this year!
Monday has the Solutions Exchange, the TFD Roundtable with Scale, and the annual vExpert meeting.
Tuesday will be non-stop sessions and Solutions Exchange for me. Let’s hope we’ve got some more great surprises from VMware and their partners! Tuesday evening I’ll probably head over to the Veeam party since I know so many of their folks. Then there’s the VAfterParty, too!
Wednesday evening is the VMworld party (featuring Bon Jovi), and I’m seriously considering attending vWine as well.
Stephen’s Stance
Don’t get me wrong. VMworld is a lot more than parties! Every year I get so much new technical info to think (and blog) about that it lasts me the whole year following! I strongly suggest that you attend a VMworld event yourself and see what the fuss is all about!
Disclaimer: Scale Computing is a paid sponsor of Tech Field Day Roundtable at VMworld 2012. Their money makes it possible for me to bring many of our delegates to the event, including paying for airfare and accommodations. Other companies may also sign up for this service.
