With just a few clicks, a contributor over at Wikipedia is about to delete our entire field of work! The article on enterprise storage is nominated for deletion because the readers didn’t believe it existed as an entity.

If you disagree, and think enterprise storage is more real than “enterprise chewing gum”, please head over there and edit the article! Add some sources! Expand it! At least add a comment supporting the existence of the field…

It is amazing that something as simple-sounding as making an array get bigger can be so complex, yet scaling storage is notoriously difficult. Our storage protocols just werenâ€™t designed with scaling in mind, and they lack the flexibility needed to dynamically address multiple nodes. So my hat is off to these companies and others who have come up with clever ways to maintain compatibility while scaling out beyond the bounds of a single storage array.

I justify spending six times more on the Vertex 100 for a simple reason: It’ll keep up with the heavy water use in my house. I’m hoping I’ll never have to worry about hot water as long as I live here. The fact that it saves over $100 per year due to energy-efficient design is just icing on the cake.
