Although New England ought to win that big football game, they’re losing when it comes to innovation and technology. Seattle and Austin are gaining rapidly, and Massachusetts has itself to blame thanks to oppressive non-compete clauses and the threat of litigation. As for Tech Field Day, look for us to return to Silicon Valley for seven of our nine full events in 2015. At least now you know why!
As most of my readers know, I also run the Tech Field Day event series, bringing independent voices in IT together with interesting companies in our space. This year, we’re running a full-blown Tech Field Day event at VMworld, the largest we’ve ever put together. Although there’s no live audience for Tech Field Day apart from the delegate panel, I invite you to watch online!
Join me for “Storage I/O is About to Get Crazy”! I’ll be speaking on Tuesday morning, August 26, at 7:30 AM at Jillian’s San Francisco, right on the corner next to Moscone and the rest of VMworld. SolarWinds is sponsoring this talk and will provide breakfast (including gourmet coffee) to any and all registered VMworld attendees.
This year for my Truth in IT seminars, I’m shifting away from virtualization to focus on enterprise storage once again. But this won’t be any ordinary “storage 101†seminar. Rather than trying to talk about every element, I’m focused on what’s new!
At the end of August, I’m headed to San Francisco for VMworld US 2012! I say this with quite a bit of excitement because VMworld is always a highlight of my year but also because of the fun stuff I have planned this year: A special Tech Field Day Roundtable discussion, fun meetups like VMunderground, and of course lots of great technical content!
Tomorrow, I will be in San Francisco for TechTarget’s Storage Decisions conference. This show does a good job on the editorial side, suggesting timely topics and bringing in folks like Dennis Martin, Mark Staimer, and Jon Toigo. I will have two presentations on data reduction and storage virtualization in the main conference track – both are updated from my New York sessions.
Although the details have not been released, TechTarget updated its web site today with a list of events by region for 2009. My understanding is that, although the formats and locations are tweaked slightly, the user-focused character of their excellent Storage Decisions conferences and one-day seminars will remain. Some highlights from the calendar: The Storage […]
Next week is the final Storage Decisions conference of 2008, Storage Decisions San Francisco! I’ll be in the Bay area from Sunday night through Wednesday, and invite you to say hello if you’re in the area as well! If you’re attending the conference, here’s my schedule: Monday, 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM: DATA RETENTION & […]
My pal, Greg Schulz, just pointed out that TechTarget has posted the presentations from Storage Decisions New York 2008. If you were there, you might have tried to figure out how to download the presentations at the kiosk/table in the lobby. I couldn’t figure it out, myself, though! So you might want to head over […]
