?! Don't need standards? That's whoie.. first there needs to be a standard that defines cloud computing because i see way to many socalled "Cloud Vendors" using terms like private clouds or public clouds.. Thats crap. Go back and read the origin of the word and you'll see cloud computing was refering to users accessing remote data centers. But markerts and sales people took the term and attached it to anything and everything to sell their crappy services.
Until standards come about we will have this mess from Sales and Marketers.. Sadly we've allowed this idiots to take control of the IT consulting process and we are reaping what these idiots sew..!!
I call for a ban on all sales and marketers and we need to ban together and forcibly expell them from business world wide.. Sending them to the bottom of the ocean would be a good first step.. The can sell to the fish!

One of the few implementations that I have looked @ for the cloud that actually makes sense is OpenQRM. It is open source - and will allow anyone to add to the project - or even fork from it. Why I like it so much is it is more of a framework to work for All Clouds - From Amazon, to your own internal VMWare cluster, to Xen, to KVM and even the stand alone server.

I have tried some of the other promises on the market - like Enomalism - and others - and gotta tell you this really blows the high paid guys out of the water!
