What do you think about programming the account information and server info from a MagicJack? I have read about doing this on an Obi100 or Linksys Voice IP adapter, so why not on the Vtech IP 8100?

Cheap calls do exist in the US. As a matter of fact, with the unlock this article is describing and using your adapter with a service like Gizmo5, Sipgate, or any number of other providers, you get free calling. Please note, my response is US-centric. The international rates are dirt cheap as well. And since the number moves with the device, even if you live in another country, you can get a US number and US rates on calls. Though it's not completely new, it has really revolutionized phone calling. In my short life if has gone from paying crazy amounts to talk to relatives in a neighboring city with POTS to nothing but startup costs to talk to anyone anywhere in the country.
